Can Elina Svitolina find the form which we know she can play with after not really showing much for us to be confident in in 2021, or will Alison Van Uytvanck cause the upset to show us that she should be known, especially on grass courts?

Alison Van Uytvanck has been successful in some smaller tournaments in the last few weeks, showing us that she is making progress and preparing herself well for Wimbledon. Alison is not known much, mainly known for her doubles. However, she will be confident in herself now and she will know that if she is at her best, and if Elina is sub par, she can get the win under her belt here and make a statement to enter the second round of Wimbledon in the toughest side of the draw.

Elina Svitolina really needs to get her game back on track because she is much better than the form she has been showing us. Elina is a tough opponent when she is at her best, but it is shocking that she has not won any big matches in the last year whilst she has been consistently in the top 5. Elina will want to focus all her attention on getting back on track, and here in London it is the perfect opportunity for her to show us that she has made progress, otherwise I don’t know how much longer she will remain in the top 10 for.

This is going to be the 2^nd meeting between both players, with Elina having won their only encounter. They met so long ago that it does not really count towards anything in this match. Elina will want to show us that she still has some tennis to give us, but she will have to fight for it right from the start as Alison is also in top form. It will be tight throughout, and both of them will get a set in my opinion. However, at the end of the day, I see Elina getting the win under her belt and potentially gaining some momentum.
