Wimbledon: Novak Djokovic vs. Denis Kudla 7/02/21 Tennis Prediction

Top seeded Novak Djokovic of Serbia will face unseeded American Denis Kudla in the Third Round of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The match is scheduled to be played on Friday July 2nd, 2021 at a time yet to be determined.

World number one Novak Djokovic continues his quest for a sixth Wimbledon title and a record-equaling 20th Grand Slam title. Next up in his path will be the veteran American Denis Kudla, who came through the Qualifying Rounds and has impressed so far in the Main Draw. Can Kudla pull of the incredible upset and win the biggest match of his career? Or will the legend Djokovic win as expected and advance to the Round of 16 here at Wimbledon?

Novak Djokovic is a tennis legend, and is one of the greatest players that the world has ever seen. He has his eyes firmly set on some major milestones, most notably a 20th Grand Slam title which will see him draw level with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. He is also in contention for the first ever “Golden Slam” on the ATP Tour, which is winning all four grand slams and the Olympic title in the same year. Other than surprisingly dropping the first set against First Round opponent Jack Draper he has been very impressive, cruising past former Finalist Kevin Anderson 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. With his elite movement and defense, and added pop on his serve he will be very difficult to beat here, and his next opponent Denis Kudla is in for a rough day in the office.

Denis Kudla is currently ranked #114 on the ATP Tour and is a Qualifier here at the 101 Wimbledon Championships. The American is very experienced, and has had some success on grass before. He had a tremendous come from behind win in the First Round over the 30th seeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, defeating the former Junior Wimbledon champion in five sets, coming from two sets to love down. He proved that was no fluke by beating Andres Seppi in straight sets in the Second Round. While those wins were impressive, he seriously lacks the firepower needed to trouble Novak Djokovic and will have to be at his absolute best in order to make this match remotely competitive.

Denis Kudla is a fighter, and a very solid grass court player. He has been impressive here at Wimbledon, but unfortunately his stellar run is about to come to an end. Very simply put, he is no match for Novak Djokovic on any surface, and when the Serbian star is locked in and motivated like he is now, a much better player than the American will struggle here. I expect Djokovic to dominate this match from start to finish, winning in straight sets and advancing to the Round of 16 with ease.
