Roger Federer vs Adrian Mannarino
June 29, 2021 9:45 am EDT
Roger Federer (6) meets Adrian Mannarino in the first round of the 2021 Championships on Tuesday, June 29th 2021.
Which of these two grass loving players will be able to get their best game out to get ahead in this match. Will it be the Roger who is searching for his best form and potentially his 9th Wimbledon title or will it be the lefty Adrian to cause the big upset early?
Adrian Mannarino knows that he loves playing in these grass court conditions where he is able to use his lefty serve and forehand to make opponents go in even tougher and uncomfortable positions. Adrian Mannarino will be confident in his game, but he will also know that he has a very tough road ahead as he meets Roger Federer who is looking to make a strong Wimbledon comeback. Can we expect the Frenchman to spoil the party and get a very big win under his belt to make his way to the second round?
Roger Federer is back at Wimbledon and everyone is so excited to see him playing in his favourite tournament. Roger brings out his best tennis when it comes to this tournament and I expect for him to work his way through the tournament to find his highest level. Roger is not in the same side of the draw as Novak so he will at least be able to know that if he is able to find some form, he has more time before he potentially meets him in the final. It would be great if we saw a rematch of their last meeting here, but it will be a tough ask for Roger.
This is going to be the 7th meeting between both players, with Roger never having lost to Adrian Mannarino. Adrian will come into this match with some confidence as he knows he can definitely challenge here and show us the level he showed over the last week in Mallorca. However, Roger just finds an extra gear when it comes to playing in London in Wimbledon, I expect for Roger to fight his way through some tight first two sets and then find his groove to get the win under his belt and make his way to the second round.
