Towson vs Houston Prediction Basketball Picks 11-16-23

The Houston Cougars and the Towson Tigers meet Thursday in college basketball action from TD Arena. Houston is currently 3-0 on the young season. The Cougars beat Stetson in blowout fashion during their last appearance. As for Towson, they’re sitting at 2-1 overall after a win over Robert Morris on Sunday. Houston Cougars

The Cougars have had very little issues so far this year, notching three blowout victories in three games. Houston kicked things off with an 84-31 win over LA-Monroe, shooting 42.6 percent from the field with 46 rebounds. Game two was another big win 82-50 over Texas A&M-CC that featured 41.8 percent shooting and 54 rebounds for the Cougars.

Back on Monday versus Stetson in their most recent appearance, Houston jumped out to a 38-16 edge by halftime. After 41 more points the Cougars had a 79-48 victory. Leading the scoring was LJ Cryer on 21 points. Damian Dunn added 15 points with three rebounds, and Mylik Wilson had 11 points with three rebounds of his own.

Towson Tigers

Over on the Towson side, they drew an unenviable matchup versus Colorado in their opener this year. The Tigers were within four points at the break but fell 75-57 after a rough second half. Towson shot just 35.2 percent overall and got out-rebounded 38-26 in the defeat. As for game two, the Tigers found their groove against Coppin State in a 70-49 win.

Towson got another victory on Sunday versus Robert Morris, but it didn’t come easily. The Tigers were up 35-31 going into the second half and kept the pace from there in a 66-62 win. Charles Thompson doubled up on 14 points with 10 rebounds, and Tyler Tejada had a nice outing on 13 points, seven boards and three assists.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably just stick with Houston here. Probably also not touching it, though. The Cougars have three dominant performances in the books thus far. In the latest blowout win over Stetson on Monday, Houston shot a nice 52.6 percent from the floor with 45 percent (9-of-20) from 3-point range. The Cougars came up with 17 steals during the game, pestering the Hatters into 23 turnovers. Towson will certainly have some difficulties finding quality possessions in this one.

Speaking of the Tigers, they’ve looked decent over the last two games—though Sunday’s matchup was a little sketchy at times. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Towson hang around in the first half during Thursday’s matchup, but Houston should be in complete control cover-wise down the stretch.
