Phoenix Mercury vs. Las Vegas Aces 10/6/21 WNBA Pick, Odds, and Predictions

The Phoenix Mercury and Las Vegas Aces face off on Wednesday in a WNBA semi-finals playoff showdown at Talking Stick Resort Arena. Phoenix currently leads this series 2-1 after dominating the last two games.

In Game 2, Phoenix won 117-91 and in the last game, they won 87-60. The Mercury isn’t exactly known for their defense, so only giving up 60 points was quite impressive. Forward Brianna Turner had a big game finishing with 23 points and 17 rebounds. Brittney Griner also had 18 points and 11 rebounds. The top player for Las Vegas was Liz Cambage had 13 points and five rebounds. 

The Mercury finished the regular season with a 19-13 record overall which puts them in 4th place in the Western Conference. The Mercury are averaging 82.1 points per game while their defense is giving up 79.5 points. Brittney Griner has been the top player averaging 20.5 points while shooting 57.5 percent from the field. This postseason it’s been a lot of different players stepping up. Turner is only averaging 7.8 points per game but was the best player in the last game. 

The Aces were the top team in the Western Conference finishing with a 24-8 record. The Aces won the first game of this series, but the last two games, the defense has been a big issue, including two games ago where they gave up 117 points. Las Vegas is averaging 89.3 points while their defense is giving up 80.2 points. A’ja Wilson has been the top player averaging 18.3 points while shooting 44.4 percent from the field. In this game, Las Vegas needs some better defense or this will be a long game. 

The Aces don’t have a good defense, and Phoenix is going to have no issue running up the score. I also expect Phoenix is going to play some strong defense again. Las Vegas will score more than 60 points, but they aren’t going to finish with more than 70. Look for Phoenix to cover the spread.
