The Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever face off on Wednesday in a WNBA showdown at The Gateway Center @ College Park. When these two teams faced off on June 5th it was the Dream that secured the 75-66 victory.

The Dream come into this game with a 12-16 record overall, but they are coming off another loss in the last game. The defense gave up 82 points to the Seattle Storm and that led to the Dream losing by ten points. Two games ago, against the Minnesota Lynx, the defense gave up 92 points. Atlanta is averaging 77.8 points, while their defense is giving up 80.7 points per game. The offense is ranked 11th in the league, while their defense is ranked 5th in the league. The top offensive player for the Dream has been Tiffany Hayes, and she is averaging 16.2 points while shooting 54.5 percent from the field and 42.9 percent from behind the three-point line. In this game, the Dream are going to need the defense to be good, to give their offense a chance.

On the other side of this matchup is the Fever, who sit with a 5-27 record overall, and they are coming off another blowout loss in their last game. The Fever gave up 94 points to the Las Vegas Aces, while the offense could only manage 69 points. The Fever are averaging 77.6 points, while their defense is giving up 88.8 points per game. The offense and defense are both ranked 12th in the league. This is a young team that has some good pieces, but they just don’t have a deep enough roster to really be competitive this year. The top offensive player for the Fever has been Kelsey Mitchell, and she is averaging 18.4 points while shooting 43.8 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from behind the three-point line.

The Dream isn’t a very good team, but they are still a lot better than the Fever. The Fever are coming off a game where they gave up 94 points, and Atlanta is going to run up the score here. I expect Atlanta is going to score at least 80 points here, and that will be the difference as Atlanta gets the job done. Back Atlanta against the spread.
