The Las Vegas Aces and Atlanta Dream face off on Friday in a WNBA showdown at The Gateway Center @ College Park. When these two teams faced off in August 2021 it was the Aces that secured the 78-71 victory.

The Aces come into this game with a 2-1 record overall, but they lost their last game. The Aces started the season with a 106-88 victory against the Phoenix Mercury and followed that up with an 85-74 victory over the Seattle Storm. In the last game against the Washington Mystics though, the defense really struggled, giving up 89 points and that led to the 13 point defeat. The Aces are averaging 89 points, while their defense is giving up 83.7 points per game. The offense is second in the league, and they are going to need to the offense to be good. The offensive rating is 107.9 which is second in the WNBA. The defensive rating is 101.4 which is 6th in the league. The top offensive player is Jackie Young, who is averaging 19.3 points, and she is shooting 58.3 percent from the field.

On the other side of this matchup is the Dream, who sit with a 2-0 record. The Dream opened up the season with a 66-59 victory over the Dallas Wings, and in the last game the Los Angeles Sparks they won 77-75. In the last game against the Sparks, they were outscored 21-15 in the 4th quarter, but they still held on for the two-point victory. The Dream are averaging 71.5 points, while their defense is giving up 67 points per game. The offense has a bit inconsistent, but the defense is ranked 2nd in the WNBA. Rhyne Howard has been the top player for the Dream, averaging 18.5 points while shooting 40.9 percent from the field.

This game is going to come down to the Aces’ offense against the Dream’s defense. The Dream’s defense has been strong heading into this game, but Las Vegas is an elite offensive team, and they are going to find success in this game. Two games ago the Aces scored 85 points and I expect they are going to find offensive success in this game. Back the Aces against the spread.
