Connecticut Sun vs. Chicago Sky
June 29, 2022 12:00 pm EDT

The Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun face off on Wednesday in a WNBA showdown at Wintrust Arena. When these two teams faced off on June 10th it was the Sky that secured the 83-79 victory.

Chicago comes into this game with a 13-5 record overall, but it took a buzzer-beater in the last game against the Minnesota Lynx to secure the victory. Chicago was outscored 23-16 in the 4th quarter, and that made it a lot closer than what people expected. Two games ago, against the Los Angeles Sparks, the Sky were able to win 82-59. The Sky are averaging 85.4 points, while their defense is giving up 80 points per game. The offense is ranked second in the league, while their defense is ranked 5th.

On the other side of this matchup is the Connecticut Sun, who sits with a 13-6 record overall, and they were able to beat the Atlanta Dream 72-61 in the last game. Two games ago against the New York Liberty, the Sun were competitive but couldn’t get the job done and were defeated 81-77. The Sun are averaging 85.2 points, while their defense is giving up 77.1 points per game. The offense is ranked 3rd in the WNBA, while the defense is also ranked 3rd. Jonquel Jones has been the top player for the Sun, averaging 14.6 points while shooting 51.5 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from behind the three-point line.

These are two teams who have played down to the competition as of late, but in this game, I am not looking at a side. These are both teams that are averaging at least 85 points per game, and I don’t see a ton of defense being played here. I expect both offenses are going to run up the score here, and the over is going to cash.
