The Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun face off on Wednesday in a WNBA showdown at Wintrust Arena. In the first game of the series, it was the Sun that were able to secure the 68-63 victory.

At the end of the first quarter, the Sun were up 19-16, and they never looked back as they were able to win by five points. The Sun used a balanced attack, with four different players scoring at least 12 points. DeWanna Bonner was the top player, scoring 16 points. Candace Parker was the top player for Chicago, scoring 19 points and grabbing 18 rebounds. Chicago only had three players score in double figures, though, and they are going to need more production in this game to get the job done.

The Sky are averaging 86.3 points, while their defense is giving up 81.3 points per game. The Sky’s offense is ranked second in the league, while their defense is ranked 4th. Kahleah Cooper has been the top player for the Storm, averaging 15.7 points while shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 35.6 percent from behind the three-point line. Candace Parker is averaging 13.2 points while shooting 45.8 percent from the field.

On the other side of this matchup is the Sun, who are averaging 85.8 points while their defense is giving up 77.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 3rd in the league, while their pitching staff is ranked second in the league. Jonquel Jones has been the top player for Sun, averaging 14.6 points while shooting 51.3 percent from the field and 36.9 percent from behind the three-point line. Brionna Jones is also having a strong season, averaging 13.8 points while shooting 57.1 percent from the field.

The first game of this series was low scoring, and it’s going to be no different in this game. I expect Connecticut to keep the pace of this game close, and their defense is going to slow down the Sky’s offense. Look for both teams to finish around 160 points again, and the under will cash.
