Chicago Sky at Connecticut Sun

The Connecticut Sun and Chicago Sky face off on Tuesday in Game 1 of their WNBA playoff series at Mohegan Sun Arena. These two teams faced off three times this season and the Sky won two of those games.

The Connecticut Sun will be playing their first game of the playoffs after securing the top seed. The Sun is the hottest team in the WNBA having won 12 games in a row. In the last game against the Atlanta Dream, the defense locked down giving up 64 points, and the defense is going to need to lock down again in this one. On the season the Sun is averaging 79.7 points per game while their defense is giving up 69.9 points. Jonquel Jones has been the top player averaging 19.4 points while shooting 51.5 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from behind the three-point line. Four different players are averaging at least 10 points per game, and the balanced attack will be a key.

On the other side of this matchup is the Chicago Sky who have had to win two games in the playoffs just to get to this point. In the first game, the Sky beat the Dallas Wings, 81-64, and in the last game against the Minnesota Lynx, they won 89-76. Courtney Vandersloot was the best player in the last game putting up 19 points, five rebounds, and five assists. The Sky are averaging 83.3 points while their defense is giving up 81.9 points per game. Kahleah Copper has been the best player for the Sky averaging 14.4 points while shooting 51.5 percent from the field.

The Sky have looked impressive during the playoffs so far and I think that will continue in this game. The Sky’s offense is going to run up the score against the Sun and keep this game close. Back the Chicago Sky against the spread.
