The Indiana Fever are coming off a 13-win season and enter the second year under coach Christie Sides. The Fever are the most hyped team in the WNBA, not because they’re title contenders, but because they added Caitlin Clark. One of the best college players ever and a scoring machine, Clark makes the Fever a better team but also provides a watchability factor we haven’t quite seen on the women’s side. The Fever also still have Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith, two young players who continue to take steps in the right direction and will benefit greatly with Clark on the court. The Fever also added Katie Lou Samuelson, who missed last season due to the birth of a child. The Fever are still young and figuring things out, but Indiana is clearly heading in the right direction and has building blocks.

The Connecticut Sun have made at least the playoff semifinals in each of the last 5 years and enter the second season under coach Stephanie White. The Sun have their core yet again of DeWanna Bonner, Alyssa Thomas and DiJonai Carrington. It’s going to be even stronger this season with the return of Brionna Jones, who is back from an Achilles injury. Additions of Moriah Jefferson and Tiffany Mitchell give the Sun needed depth to really challenge teams like the Aces and Liberty. We’re going to have chances to make money on the Indiana Fever all season, and they’re going to be fun to watch regardless. However, the Fever are still young and coming together as a roster that just made a big addition. The Connecticut Sun are an experienced roster that’s been there done that over the years and there’s not much adjusting needed. While other teams get more attention, the Sun are about as consistent as it comes in the WNBA. The only thing left is a championship. Time will tell, but I’ll lay the points with the Sun in this season opener.
