The Las Vegas Aces and Connecticut Sun face off on Sunday in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals at Michelob ULTRA Arena. When these two teams faced off on July 17th it was the Aces that secured the 91-83 victory.

The Aces have gone through the Phoenix Mercury and the Seattle Storm so far in the playoffs to get into the WNBA Finals. In the last game against the Seattle Storm, they scored 97 points and that was enough to secure the victory. The Aces want to play as fast as possible, and it was too much for the Storm. Chelsea Gray has had a big playoff, and in the last game she put up 31 points and 10 assists. The Aces are averaging 90.4 points, while their defense is giving up 84.1 points per game. The offense is ranked 1st, while the defense is ranked 9th. This isn’t one of the best defenses in the WNBA, but the numbers are a bit inflated because of the pace they play. Kelsey Plum is having a big season, averaging 20.2 points while shooting 46 percent from the field and 42 percent from behind the three-point line.

On the other side of this matchup is the Sun, who have had to go through the Dallas Wings and Chicago Sky to secure the victory. After following behind 2-1 in the last series, they were able to win two games in a row. Two games ago they scored 104 points, and in the last game against the Chicago Sky, they secured the 72-63 win. The Sun had five different players that scored at least 12 points. The Sun are averaging 85.8 points, while their defense is giving up 77.8 points per game. The offense is ranked 3rd in the league, while their defense is ranked second. Jonquel Jones has been the top player this season, averaging 14.6 points while shooting 51.3 percent from the field and 36.9 percent from behind the three-point line.

The Aces want to push the pace, and they are going to have no issue running up the score here. I also don’t trust the Las Vegas defense, and that is going to be the difference here, as this game is a shootout. It wouldn’t shock me if both teams finished with over 100 points. Back the over to cash.
