May 21, 2022 3:00 pm EDT

The Phoenix Mercury and Las Vegas Aces face off on Saturday in a WNBA showdown at Michelob ULTRA Arena. These two teams faced off on May 17th, and it was the Aces that secured the 86-74 victory.

The Mercury have really struggled to start the season, and coming into this game with a 2-3 record overall. In the last game against the Dallas Wings, the defense really struggled, giving up 94 points, and that led to the defeat. This is a team that has proven to have a good offense at times, but they have been inconsistent with their defense. This is a team that against the Seattle Storm earlier in the season scored 97 points. Phoenix is averaging 82.4 points, while their defense is giving up 85.4 points per game. Diana Taurasi has been the top player for Phoenix, averaging 17.4 points.

On the other side of this matchup is the Las Vegas Aces, who sit with a 5-1 record overall and their offense had another big game on Thursday night. Against the Minnesota Lynx, the offense put up 93 points, and that led to the six-point victory. The Aces have won three games in a row and in each of the last three games they have scored at least 86 points in each of the three games. The Aces are averaging 90.3 points, while their defense is giving up 80.8 points per game. Jackie Young has been the top player for the Aces, averaging 19.2 points while shooting 57.1 percent from the field.

The Mercury’s defense really struggled, giving up 94 points, and they are facing an Aces team that is averaging 90.3 points per game. Look for Las Vegas to run up the score, and this game is going to get ugly for Phoenix. Back Las Vegas against the spread.
