The Phoenix Mercury and Atlanta Dream face off on Sunday in a WNBA showdown at the Footprint Center. When these two teams faced off on June 10th it was the Mercury that were able to secure the 90-88 victory.

The Mercury comes into this game with an 11-15 record overall, and in the last game against the Washington Mystics they won 80-75. Two games ago against the Minnesota Lynx they forced overtime, but it wasn’t enough as they were defeated 118-107. The Mercury is averaging 83 points, while their defense is giving up 85.7 points per game. The offense is ranked 5th in the league, while their defense is ranked 10th. Skylar Diggins-Smith has been the top player for the Mercury, averaging 19.6 points while shooting 43.3 percent from the field.

On the other side of this matchup is the Atlanta Dream who sit with a 10-14 record overall and in the last game against the Connecticut Sun they were defeated 93-68. The defense has been a big issue for this team, and in the last game against the Chicago Sky, they gave up 90 points. The Dream are averaging 77.2 points, while their defense is giving up 80.5 points per game. The offense is ranked 12th in the league, while their defense is ranked 5th in the league. The top offensive player for the Dream this season has been Rhyne Howard, and she is averaging 14.7 points while shooting 37.4 percent from the field.

This Dream’s defense has been a big issue, and it’s going to let them down again in this game. Atlanta is giving up 80 points per game, and they are going to really struggle to defend again in this game. Phoenix is going to run up the score and Atlanta is going to get the job done. Back the Mercury against the spread.
