Indiana Fever vs. Phoenix Mercury
June 26, 2022 10:00 pm EDT

The Phoenix Mercury and Indiana Fever face off on Monday in a WNBA showdown at the Footprint Center. When these two teams faced off on June 15th it was the Mercury that were able to secure the 93-80 victory.

The Mercury comes into this game with a 7-12 record overall, and now they are without Tina Charles, who agreed to a separation from the team. Even though the Mercury have struggled, they are coming off a win in their last game against the Dallas Wings. The Wings only gave up 72 points and that was enough to secure the victory. Phoenix is averaging 81.9 points, while their defense is giving up 86.1 points per game. The offense is ranked 4th in the league, while their defense is ranked 10th. Skylar Diggins-Smith has been the top player for Phoenix, averaging 18.9 points while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 31.6 percent from behind the three-point line.

On the other side of this matchup is the Indiana Fever, who sits with a 5-14 record overall, and they have been awful heading into this game. In the last game against the Dallas Wings the defense was awful, giving up 94 points and that led to the defeat. The Fever are averaging 79.6 points, while their defense is giving up 88.6 points per game. The offense is ranked 8th in the league, while their pitching staff is ranked 12th. Kelsey Mitchell has been the top player, hitting 19 home runs while shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 39.6 percent from behind the three-point line.

The Fever’s defense has been awful, and maybe the Mercury only needed Tina Charles to leave to start playing like a team again. The Mercury looked wonderful in the last game with their defense, and Indiana is going to have some major issues scoring in this game. Back the Fever against the spread.
