Chicago Sky vs. Seattle Storm

The Chicago Sky and Seattle Storm face off on Wednesday in a WNBA showdown at Climate Pledge Arena. When these two teams faced off in August 2021, it was the Sky that secured the 107-75 victory.

The Sky has looked good to start the season, and they currently sit with a 2-1 record. In the first game of the season, they lost in overtime to the Los Angeles Sparks, but since that point, they have lost two games in a row. Two games ago they beat the New York Liberty 83-50, and in the last game against the Minnesota Lynx, they won 82-78. The most impressive game was against the Liberty because of how impressive the defense was. The Sky are averaging 85.3 points, while their defense is giving up 75.3 points per game. The defensive rating is 95.9 which is 4th best in the WNBA. It has been a mostly balanced attack, with six different players averaging at least 11.7 points per game. The top scorer has been Dana Evans, who is averaging 14.7 points.

On the other side of this matchup is the Seattle Storm who sit with a 1-3 record overall, but they have dealt with COVID-19 issues, including Breanna Stewart who is the star of this team. Seattle has lost two games in a row and in the last game against the Phoenix Mercury, the offense only scored 64 points, and that led to the defeat. It’s unclear if Stewart is going to be able to go in this game. The Storm’s offense is averaging 78 points, while their defense is giving up 81.3 points per game. They also play the 4th fastest pace of play. In this game, the defense is going to need to be good. Jewell Lloyd has been the top player and is averaging 22 points while shooting 42.6 percent from the field.

Even if the Storm are fully healthy in this game, I expect the Sky are going to find success here. Chicago’s defensive rating is good, and they are going to find success slowing down the Storm’s offense. Back the Sky against the spread.
