New York Liberty vs. Seattle Storm
May 26, 2022 10:00 pm EDT

The Seattle Storm and New York Liberty face off on Friday in a WNBA showdown at Climate Pledge Arena. When these two teams faced off in September 2021 it was the Storm that secured the 85-75.

The Storm comes into this game with a 3-3 record overall, but the record might be a bit deceiving because they have dealt with COVID issues. In the last game against the Los Angeles Sparks, the Storm were outscored 22-16 in the 4th quarter, but they still held on for the three-point victory. The Storm are averaging 78.2 points, while their defense is giving up 79.3 points per game. The offense is ranked 10th, but their defense has been a little better. Breanna Stewart has been the top player for the Storm, averaging 19.8 points while shooting 46.2 percent from the field.

On the other side of this matchup is the Liberty, who sit with a 1-5 record overall, and they are coming off another loss against the Minnesota Lynx. They were outscored 21-13 in the 4th quarter, and they lost by six points. Two games ago, against the Connecticut Sun, they were defeated 92-65. The Liberty are averaging 71.8 points, while their defense is giving up 85.2 points per game. The offense is ranked 12th in the league, while their defense is ranked 8th. The offensive rating is 89.3 which is also last in the league. Sabrina Ionescu has been the top player for the Liberty, averaging 14.5 points while shooting 42.5 percent from the field and 34.4 percent from behind the three-point line. In this game, if the Liberty want a chance to win this game, they are going to need the offense to be better or this is going to be another long game.

The Liberty are averaging only 71.8 points, and they just don’t have the offense to keep this game close. The Storm with Stewart back are going to run up the score, and New York just won’t keep up. I expect the Storm to get close to 100 points, and this game is going to be a blowout. Back the Storm against the spread.
