It’s hard to look past the Memphis Grizzlies in this one, but you could make a pretty compelling case for the New Orleans Pelicans if you wanted too. For one, they have defeated the visiting Grizzlies on four straight occasions and five of six overall, which includes both meetings this season. They have also covered the spread in four straight and six of seven overall. While the Pelicans have struggled to get anything going this season, mainly due to injuries, they are currently riding a three-game winning streak and they should be nice and rested because they have only played the two home games since the 4th of the month. On the other hand, Memphis hosted Portland just last night and this will be there fourth game in six nights.
While I just made a pretty compelling case for the Pellies if I do say so myself, Memphis will still be pick here. The Grizz are also riding a three-game wining streak and they come into tonight’s contest having won five of six straight up and against the spread. However, the most impressive thing about Memphis is their ability to win away from home because it doesn’t seem to faze this veteran squad where they play. On the season, the Grizzlies have won 20 of their 34 road games to date and they have covered the number in 11 of their last 17 away from home.
I expect this to be a tight battle throughout, but I have a hard time seeing New Orleans taking down Memphis three times this season...
