BNP Paribas Open: Andy Murray vs. Adrian Mannarino 10/07/21 Tennis Prediction
Andy Murray vs Adrian Mannarino
October 7, 2021 2:00 pm EDT
Former Grand Slam Champion, Andy Murray, meets the experienced lefty, Adrian Mannarino, in the first round of the BNP Paribas Open on Thursday, October 7th, 2021.
Will we see a big win for Andy Murray as he continues to aim to build his confidence and game back up on the ATP Tour, or will Adrian Mannarino use his flamboyant lefty game to get a good win under his belt?
Adrian Mannarino will be hoping to get a good win under his belt as he aims to find his form and confidence again after he has struggled recently after Wimbledon. Mannarino had a great start at Wimbledon, nearly beating Roger Federer before he had to retire from the match with an injury, and at the US Open he took a set off of Stefanos Tsitsipas. Adrian is a good player on his day, with his lefty serve being able to catch his opponents off guard at times. Can the Frenchman find consistency in his rallies to get far here in Indian Wells?
Andy Murray has been in good form recently, making the Quarter-Finals of the Moselle Open and then playing well against Casper Ruud in the second round of the San Diego Open last week. Andy seems in strong form, loving his life at the moment, and just enjoying the moment. Andy knows that he is able to compete at a high level, but he does not want to put too much pressure on himself because that’s when things start to go wrong with the pressure on both his game and physical health.
Both players have met 2 times before, with Andy having won both of their encounters. They met both times in 2015 so their matches do not have any meaning currently, especially as their game has evolved since then. Although Adrian Mannarino is higher ranked and has probably had a better last few years on the ATP Tour, when you look at Andy Murray’s matches recently, he is in better form and we all know that the crowd will be behind him, giving him that motivation and confidence needed to win.
