The Los Angeles Lakers and the Sacramento Kings collide at the Golden 1 Center on Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles Lakers have been struggling a bit as they’ve lost five of their past eight games, but they will be hoping to build some momentum after outlasting the Pistons in a 110-106 home win on Sunday. LeBron James led the team wit 33 points and nine assists on 12 of 20 shooting, Russell Westbrook added 25 points with six rebounds and nine assists while Anthony Davis chipped in with 24 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks. As a team, the Lakers shot 50 percent from the field and nine of 32 from the 3-point line as they held the Pistons to 21 points in the first quarter to take the lead into halftime, before going on a pivotal 21-2 run early in the third quarter to lead by as many as 19 points which proved to be just enough in the end as the Pistons rallied late. Carmelo Anthony had a night to forget as he finished scoreless on zero of seven shooting while Avery Bradley finished scoreless on zero of five shooting.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have been in poor form as they’ve lost nine of their past 12 games and they will be hoping to bounce back after having their two-game win streak snapped by the Grizzlies in an ugly 128-101 road loss on Sunday. Buddy Hield led the team with 14 points off the bench, Terence Davis added 13 points while De’Aaron Fox chipped in with 12 points. As a team, the Kings shot a miserly 34 percent from the field and nine of 42 from the 3-point line as they struggled to get going and never really threatened after allowing the Grizzlies to explode for 76 points in the first half. The Kings trailed in this one by as many as 37 points before they finally stopped the bleeding in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games, 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a losing record and 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. The Kings are 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall, 2-6 ATS in their last eight games following a loss and 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 22-10-1 in the last 33 meetings in Sacramento and the Lakers are 20-8-1 ATS in the last 29 meetings in Sacramento.
Avery Bradley and LeBron James are both listed as questionable for the Lakers while the Kings are sweating on the availability of Harrison Barnes and Maurice Harkless. The Lakers will be relieved that they got the job done against the Pistons on Sunday, but it was far from convincing and I’m not sure they can survive another quiet night from Anthony is James sits this one out. The Kings haven’t been doing well themselves and their confidence took another hit after allowing the shorthanded Grizzlies to blow them out in their last outing. I want to take the Kings, but they’re just such a mess right now, so I’m reluctantly taking the Lakers to get the job done here.
