The Howard Bison and the Coppin State Eagles meet Monday in college basketball action from Physical Education Complex. Howard is currently 7-8 this year and beat Morgan State in their last game. Howard posted a 6-6 record over their first 12 games, losing to Villanova, High Point, Austin Peay, Mount St. Mary’s, Georgetown and Harvard. After two more losses to Norfolk State and Notre Dame the Bison beat Morgan State on Saturday.
Matched up against Morgan State, the Bison carried a 46-43 edge into halftime. Howard was able to hang on from there in a 91-82 win. Randall Brumant led the way on 22 points and Steve Settle added 21 points with eight rebounds.
Over on the Coppin State side, they won just one of their first 15 games this year, a November 17 affair versus Loyola MD. In the three games since, the Eagles have beaten South Carolina State and Morgan State before a loss to Norfolk State.
In the Norfolk State game, the Eagles posted just 28 points in the first half. Coppin State got better from there but still lost 84-77. Nendah Tarke led the way on 24 points with six rebounds, and Tyree Corbett doubled on 19 points and 14 boards.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Howard. Probably not going near this one, though; there’s not a ton of intrigue here. That said, the Bison haven’t been scoring too badly lately. They’ve hit 68 or more points in each of their last eight outings (Howard is just 3-5 in that stretch, though). As for Coppin State, they’ve hit 69 or more points in each of their last five, so this one could get interesting total-wise. Ultimately I like Howard to power out a cover/win, though.
