The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Syracuse Orange meet Monday in college basketball action from the Carrier Dome. Georgia Tech is 11-15 so far this season. The Yellow Jackets beat Pittsburgh in their last game. As for Syracuse, they’re 14-12 so far and coming off a win over Boston College. Georgia Tech got off to a solid 5-1 start this year, but they’ve only been able to win consecutive games once since then. The Yellow Jackets lost to Miami, Virginia and NC State before picking up their latest victory over Pittsburgh.

In the Saturday matchup versus Pittsburgh, the Jackets posted 37 points in the first half and 31 more in the second on the way to a nice 68-62 victory. Georgia Tech’s Michael Devoe led the team on 22 points with six boards and three assists.

Over on the Syracuse side, they hit a 5-3 run over their first eight games this year, but by late January the Orange were sitting at 9-11. Syracuse does have five wins in their last six games over Wake Forest, NC State, Louisville and Boston College (twice), though.

In the Saturday rematch versus Boston College, Syracuse outscored the Eagles 36-21 in the first half and 40-35 in the second for a 76-56 victory. Cole Swider and Buddy Boeheim each scored 18 points with a combined six rebounds.

The Orange are 4-1 ATS in their last five at home and 4-1 ATS in their last five as a favorite. Syracuse is 4-1 ATS in the last five overall.

Meanwhile, the Jackets are 4-0 in their last four Saturday games and 6-16 ATS in the last 22 after an ATS win. The over is 4-1 in Georgia Tech’s last five Saturday games.

PICK: I’m going with Syracuse here. The Orange have found a solid groove over their last half-dozen games. They’ve hit 73 or more points in each of the five wins in that stretch. As for Georgia Tech, they’ve been below 70 points in six of their last seven outings. Syracuse has generally been pretty good at putting up points in comparable matchups this year, so if they can get off to a good offensive start in this one I think they’ll be fine on a home cover.
