Jannik Sinner will meet Daniel Altmaier in the Second Round of the 2023 French Open. The match will be played on Thursday June 1st, 2023. 

Jannik Sinner is the 8th seed here at the 2023 French Open and is ranked 9th on the ATP Tour. The Italian is among the dark horse candidates for the title here at Roland Garros and started well, crushing Alexandre Muller for the loss of only six games. Such a dominant performance will have given him lots of confidence, something that he lacks at times. If his serve is firing, that along with his elite groundstrokes will make him a serious contender to go deep into this draw. He enters this match against Daniel Altmaier as the strong favorite to advance to Round 3. 

Daniel Altmaier is unseeded here at the 2023 Roland Garros and is ranked 79th on the ATP Tour. The German has been inconsistent this season, with a mix of strong wins and disappointing losses. With a poor 6-16 record on the season he will be hoping for a decent run here, and he started strongly with a straight-sets win over Marc-Andrea Huesler in the First Round. With solid groundstrokes but no obvious weapon, Altmaier will find it tough to keep up with the raw power of Jannik Sinner, but is good enough to hold his own. 

If Daniel Altmaier was in form, this could be an entertaining match but unfortunately that is not the case. He has been disappointing lately, so Jannik Sinner should have little problem in dispatching him. The Italian has been tremendous this season, and I don’t see anything stopping him from a deep run here at the 2023 French Open. Jannik Sinner will win comfortably here, very likely in straight sets.
