The Chicago Bears are coming off a preseason win over the Titans, where they outscored the opponent 9-0 in the second half. In the Bear’s most recent effort, Justin Fields threw for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns, while Nathan Peterman had 58 passing yards on 6 pass attempts. Roschon Johnson led the Bears with 44 rushing yards on 12 carries, while DJ Moore and Khalil Herbert combined for 118 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. Defensively, Tyrique Stevenson led the Bears with 7 tackles, Terrell Lewis had 2 sacks and A.J. Thomas had 1 interception. The Bears have to be thrilled with their opening effort, as Fields played great, and then the backups closed the deal in the second half. The Bears have allowed 20 or fewer points in each of their last 4 preseason games. 

Indianapolis Colts Betting Preview

The Indianapolis Colts lost their preseason opener to the Bills in a back and forth game where 6 touchdowns were scored. The Colts have now split their last 6 preseason games. In the Colt’s most recent effort, Gardner Minshew threw for 72 yards on 100 percent completions, while Sam Ehlinger had 72 passing yards on 8 completions. Deon Jackson led the Colts with 35 rushing yards on 6 carries, while Malik Turner and Josh Downs combined for 77 receiving yards on 6 catches. Defensively, Grant Stuard led the Colts with 12 tackles, Khalid Kareem had 1 sack and Darius Rush had 1 interception. The Colts held their own in their preseason opener, but there is some concern regarding quarterback Anthony Richardson. The Florida rookie was 7 of 12 passing and had 1 interception. If you were focused on the Colts quarterback competition, there’s no doubt the veteran Minshew is the current favorite for the starting job.

Randy’s Pick

The Bears and the points are worth a look, given just how good they were last week. However, the Colts are at home and I still like their quarterback depth in preseason action. Minshew was flawless last week and has starting experience, while Ehlinger and Richardson are gamers who can make plays. Despite shaky play last week, Richardson is still super talented and can score against backup defenders. How much is Fields going to play after seeing good reps last week and being the franchise quarterback? I doubt much if any. Again, QB depth is big for my preseason capping. The Colts have solid options. I’ll lay the points with the Colts at home.
