Wake Forest Routs Elon

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons come into this one looking to build on their season-opening 101-78 beatdown win over Elon last time out. Cameron Hildreth led the Demon Deacons in scoring with 33 points on 13 of 18 shooting with a pair of threes while also logging 6 rebounds and a team-high 5 assists with a pair of steals. Andrew Carr added 24 points on 7 of 9 shooting with a 10 of 11 mark from the foul line and a team-high 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Hunter Sallis added 19 points on 7 of 14 shooting with 3 threes and Kevin Miller added 17 points on 7 of 13 shooting with 5 rebounds and a pair of steals to cap off the scoring in double figures for Wake in the win. As a team, Wake Forest shot 56.9% from the field, 30.8% from three and 90.5% from the foul line in the win.

Georgia Falls To Oregon

The Georgia Bulldogs come into this one fresh off of a season-opening 82-71 loss to Oregon last time out. Jabri Abdur-Rahim led the Bulldogs with 18 points including 3 threes and 5 rebounds while RJ Melendez and Blue Cain each had 12 points to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Georgia in the win. Justin Hill added 9 points with a team-high 4 assists while Russel Tchewa added a team-high 9 rebounds in the losing effort for the Bulldogs. As a team, Georgia shot 33.8% from the field, 33.3% from three and 56.7% from the foul line in the loss.

I’m rolling with Wake here. I know it’s important to not overreact after one result, but I can’t help but be impressed with how Wake dispatched of Elon. Georgia did have the much tougher opponent in Oregon, but it’s not like it gets much easier here as this Wake team is solid across the board. The Bulldogs do have the plus of being at home, but I think this one’s all Demon Deacons here.
