Louisiana-Monroe Recap

The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks come into this one looking to snap a three-game losing streak after falling to 5-4 with a 38-17 loss to Texas State last time out. After this game, ULM will head on the road for a date with Arkansas State.

As a unit, Louisiana-Monroe has combined for 17 sacks and 5 interceptions so far this season.

Why the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks will win

  • The road team has covered the spread in five of Auburn’s last six games.

Auburn Recap

The Auburn Tigers will be out to pick up a nice bounce-back win after regrouping during their bye week. The last time we saw Auburn, they lost 17-7 to Vanderbilt to fall to 3-6 on the year and after this game, Auburn will be at home for senior day against Texas A&M.

Tigers’ Bowl Hopes Hanging By A Thread

Payton Thorne has thrown for 1,825 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions on 62.9% passing while Hank Brown has thrown for 403 yards, 6 touchdowns, and 3 picks on 62.8% passing. Jarquez Hunter leads the Tigers with 913 rushing yards along with 5 touchdowns. KeAndre Lambert-Smith has a team-high 34 receptions for 657 yards and 7 TDs while Malcolm Simmons has 28 receptions for 349 yards and Cam Coleman has 292 receiving yards. Rivaldo Fairweather has 267 receiving yards and three more Auburn receivers have 100+ receiving yards on the year. On defense, Dorian Mausi Jr. has a team-high 58 total tackles while Keldric Faulk has the team lead in sacks with 7 sacks this season. Jalen McLeod also has 5 sacks as well on the year. As a unit, Auburn’s defense has combined for 20 sacks and 6 interceptions on the year.

Why the Auburn Tigers will win

  • Louisiana-Monroe has lost each of its last 16 games against opponents from the Southeastern Conference.
  • The home team has won nine of Louisiana-Monroe’s last 11 games.
  • Louisiana-Monroe has failed to cover the spread in six of its last seven November games against non-AP-ranked teams.
  • The favorite has covered the spread in three of Louisiana-Monroe’s last four games.

Auburn vs Louisiana-Monroe Prediction

I’m leaning towards Auburn here. I don’t love this number and I really don’t like this Auburn team, but this feels like a spot where Auburn simply names their number. They did it earlier this season against inferior competition and ULM got crushed by Texas 51-3. Sure, Auburn isn’t Texas, but I just think that Auburn shows up in what could be their last chance to give their fair something to cheer about this season. Give me Auburn in a beatdown.
