Draftkings Open Championship Second Round Picks 7/18/25

2025 Open Championship
July 18, 2025 1:35 am EDT

This Friday morning, Draftkings golf fans will be presented with the second round of the 2025 Open Championship. Let’s take a look at the second round of this tournament from a DFS perspective.

Before I discuss my Draftkings player selections for this week’s event let’s review where the second round of the 2025 Open Championship will be played.

The 2025 Open Championship will be played at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. The golf course is a par 71 that measures approximately 7,346 yards.

*Royal Portrush last hosted the Open Championship in 2019. Shane Lowry won the 2019 Open Championship with a cumulative four round score of 15 under par.

I wanted to emphasize that the purpose of this article is not to provide an exact DFS lineup.

Having stated that, this article will provide multiple player options in an effort to assist the reader in generating a unique lineup that will hopefully have the potential to win a DraftKings GPP (guaranteed prize pool) contest! Keep that in mind as you construct your lineups for this DFS slate.

For those readers that are not aware, the rules and scoring for DraftKings single round showdown contests are vastly different than the traditional classic contests offered by the platform.

If you need to review the specific rules for the single round showdown contests feel free to check out the DraftKings website.

Here are my DraftKings picks for the second round of the 2025 Open Championship.

Draftkings Second Round Picks

Rory McIlroy $11,300

Since the beginning of January, Rory McIlroy has played 13 tournaments (PGA and DP World Tours combined). In those 13 events just mentioned, McIlroy compiled ten top 19 finishes, including three wins (2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: 2025 Players Championship: 2025 Masters Tournament).

Rory McIlroy won the 2014 Open Championship.

Robert Macintyre $8,700

The talented Englishman has amassed four top 20 finishes in his last six events played on the PGA Tour, including an impressive second-place result at the 2025 U.S. Open last month. Additionally, Macintyre finished sixth at the 2019 Open Championship.

Aaron Rai $7,500

Aaron Rai has amassed three top 23 finishes in his last seven events played on the PGA Tour, including a 17th result at the 2025 Travelers Championship four weeks ago.

Rai is currently ranked 25th in GIR (greens in regulation-69.26%), 22nd in strokes off the tee (0.390), second in driving accuracy (73.62%), 22nd in strokes gained tee to green (0.390) and tenth in par four scoring average (3.98) on the PGA Tour.

Aaron Rai has played well at this week’s major championship in the past. More specifically, Rai finished 19th at the 2021 Open Championship.

Upon the completion of this afternoon’s first round of the 2025 Open Championship, Aaron Rai is tied for tenth place with a score of two under par.

Harris English $7,300

Harris English arrives at this week’s tournament on the heels of two consecutive top 22 finishes, including a fourth-place result at the 2025 Travelers Championship. I fully expect English to continue his outstanding play in tomorrow’s second round.

Shane Lowry $9,300

Shane Lowry has accumulated four top 23 finishes in his last seven tournaments played on the PGA Tour, including a 13th place result at the 2025 RBC Canadian Open six weeks ago. Additionally, Lowey won the 2019 Open Championship.

It is also noteworthy that Shane Lowry won the 2019 Open Championship which was also played at Royal Portrush.
Additional golfers I like to perform well in the second round of the 2025 Open Championship (Draftkings price noted): Tyrrell Hatton $9,200: Matt Fitzpatrick $8,900: Sepp Straka $8,400: Matthew Jordan $7,000.
