The UConn Huskies and the Florida Atlantic Owls meet Saturday in college football action from FAU Stadium. Here’s a Florida Atlantic vs UConn prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Florida Atlantic vs UConn pick.

UConn Huskies Betting Preview

The Huskies’ year kicked off with a win over Central Connecticut State in blowout fashion, then came losses to Syracuse and Delaware. Next was a win streak over Ball State, Buffalo, FIU and Boston College, then a loss to Rice. The next pair were wins over UAB and Duke. In the 37-34 win over the Blue Devils, the Huskies scored double-digit points in three of the four quarters but also gave up points in every quarter themselves. The offense came up with 467 total yards and 25 first downs but went just 3-of-12 on third-down conversion opportunities.

In last weekend’s game versus Air Force, UConn went into the second half with a slim 9-7 lead. The Huskies managed to put up points in every quarter though, eventually powering out a 26-16 win in the end. Joe Fagnano was 15-of-23 for 155 yards and an interception but did run in a TD one his lone carry. Lead rusher Camryn Edwards had 24 totes for 165 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while top receiver Skyler Bell had eight grabs for 70 yards for the Huskies in the winning effort last weekend.

Florida Atlantic Owls Betting Preview

Over on the Owls’ side, they lost their opener in a blowout to Maryland, then beat Florida A&M ahead of losses to FIU and Memphis. The Owls would beat Rice and UAB before losses to South Floria and Navy. Next came a win over Tulsa, though. In the win over the Golden Hurricane, Florida Atlantic put up 31 points in the first half alone. The offense would generate 420 total yards with 311 pass yards, 7.4 yards per play and 15 first downs alongside a tepid 4-of-13 on third-down tries. On defense FAU gave up 431 yards but did have three takeaways.

Matched up against Tulane last weekend, the Owls were down 21-10 by the end of the half. FAU ended up surrendering points in every quarter during a 35-24 road loss. QB Caden Veltkamp finished 39-of-57 for 375 yards, two scores and three picks. Kaden Shields-Dutton added 10 carries for 54 yards and a TD, while Easton Messer had nine catches for 133 yards and a touchdown in the losing effort for the Owls.

Florida Atlantic vs UConn Prediction

I’ll go with UConn in this one. The Huskies were slow and steady in their win over Air Force, despite holding the ball for just 24:35 of game time. UConn notched 347 total yards and a tepid 155 yards passing, but also put up 6.5 yards per play, 18 first downs and 6-of-10 on third-down tries. The Huskies were able to withstand the Falcons’ rushing onslaught (despite giving up 290 yards on the ground) with just 4-of-10 allowed on third downs. That makes three straight wins for UConn, and they’ve scored 26 or more points in six straight (a 5-1 run).

As for Florida Atlantic, they gave up 403 total yards versus Tulane alongside 162 rush yards, 6.3 yards per play and 21 first downs last weekend but also held the opposition to just 5-of-12 on third downs. That hardly mattered though, as the offense went a tepid 6-of-14 on third downs (but 4-of-6 on fourth downs) along with four turnovers in the defeat. Florida Atlantic has scored 24 or more points in three straight, with 32 or more in two of those. Trouble is, the Owls are just 1-2 in that trio of games. UConn should have plenty of opportunities to score here.
