The Tulane Green Wave and the North Texas Mean Green meet Thursday in college basketball action from UNT Coliseum in Denton. Here’s a North Texas vs Tulane prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best North Texas vs Tulane pick.

Tulane Green Wave Betting Preview

The Wave put together a nice 12-4 run over their first 16 outings of the season, falling to only Akron, UC San Diego, New Orleans and Utah State. After losses to UAB, North Texas, FAU, Charlotte and South Florida, Tulane took wins in three of the next four games versus Memphis, Temple and UAB (with a loss to Wichita State). Over the first 25 games of the year that gives Tulane a 15-10 run.

In the UAB matchup on Sunday the Wave were sitting in the locker room with a 36-26 advantage. Tulane was outscored 28-19 the rest of the way, but managed to hang on in the end for a 55-54 victory on the road. The Wave were led by Rowan Brumbaugh with 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the win. Asher Woods added 14 points with five rebounds and three assists.

North Texas Mean Green Betting Preview

Over on the North Texas side, they weren’t looking so good at the 17-game mark, sitting at 10-7 overall. The Mean Green beat Tulane and UTSA in the next pair, then fell to East Carolina, Tulsa, UAB and Rice. After three more victories in succession versus UTSA, Memphis and Temple, North Texas has managed to carve out a 15-11 record in the books so far this year.

In the Temple game over the weekend the Mean Green were sitting in the locker room with a 28-22 deficit. North Texas clawed back on a 43-34 run the rest of the way and ended up taking a nice comeback win on the road 65-62 as the game came to a finish. Tops in scoring was Dylan Arnett with 14 points and six rebounds. Je’Shawn Stevenson had 13 points with three assists and two rebounds.

Why the North Texas Mean Green will win

  • North Texas has won each of its last 15 Thursday night games.
  • Tulane has lost each of its last six night games following a road win.
  • North Texas has won the first half in each of its last 10 night games at The Super Pit.

Why the Tulane Green Wave will win

  • The road team has won four of Tulane’s last five games.
  • North Texas has lost three of its last four night games.
  • The road team has won the first half in four of Tulane’s last five games.

North Texas vs Tulane Prediction

I’ll lean toward Tulane, but you could call this one either way. The Wave barely escaped UAB in a road win over the weekend, shooting just 36.2 percent from the field with a 44-34 rebounding deficit. Tulane got to the line just five times (making them all) but held the Blazers to just 31.7 percent shooting on defense. The Wave have won three of their last four games now, scoring 77 or more points in two of the three victories.

These teams last saw each other on January 18 in a 71-63 home loss for Tulane. In that matchup the Wave shot just 31.3 percent from the field with a 46-25 rebounding disadvantage and a 26-14 deficit in the paint. The good news is that Tulane held UNT to just 36.8 percent shooting on the other side. This game could break in a lot of different ways, but it’ll be a fun one to watch regardless.
