Berchelt has finished each of his last five opponents and hasn’t lost since his 2014 bout against Luis Eduardo Florez. Berchelt is a 28-year-old Mexican who stands at 5’7”, has a 71-inch reach and an orthodox stance. Berchelt has ridiculous power from this division and doesn’t need much time to get going, as he comes out throwing bombs out of the gate and has an 86.8 percent knockout percentage for his career. Three of Berchelt’s last four stoppages have taken place in the fourth round or earlier. Berchelt relentlessly works the body, has a devastating uppercut and he simply overwhelms his opponent. Berchelt is a pressure fighter with an impressive work rate and he’s looking to get his opponent out of there quickly. Berchelt has fought all but six of his fights in Mexico, his birth country.

Eleazar Valenzuela enters this fight with a 21-13-4 record that includes 16 knockouts. Valenzuela has split his last eight fights, and he’s coming off a December loss to Miguel Angel Parra. Valenzuela was just knocked out in the second round of his last bout, and he’s been on the losing side in two of this last three fights. Valenzuela is a 25-year-old Mexican who stands at 5’7” and has a 68-inch reach. Valenzuela has a very small frame but clearly packs a punch with 16 knockouts to his credit, and a lot of those coming in short four round fights. Valenzuela is willing to trade in the octagon and has some decent head movement that’s allowed 10 of his 13 losses to go the distance. The downside is that Valenzuela has been knocked out in three times and none of those opponents are the quality of his next opponent. Valenzuela has fought all but one of his fights in Mexico, his birth country.

There’s not much of a breakdown needed for this fight, as Valenzuela simply stands zero chance. Valenzuela has been losing to subpar fighters his whole career, and he’s now going up against the best boxer in the division in Berchelt, a power punching machine who has no mercy for his opponent. I understand it’s hard to book fights during the pandemic and you’re not going to schedule a massive fight with no fans and cut down the payday, but this fight is simply a stay busy fight for Berchelt. I’d be surprised if this fight makes it to the fourth round.
