The Jackson State Tigers and the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Thomas Assembly Center.
Jackson State comes into this one at 0-2 so far. The Tigers have recorded losses to Mississippi State and Ole Miss in their first pair of outings. As for Louisiana Tech, they’re 4-2 this year. The Bulldogs are 1-1 in their last two games, beating SE Louisiana and falling to Louisiana. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Jackson State opened with a pretty rough matchup against Mississippi State. Though the Tigers hung in there during the first half, they eventually fell 82-59. Leading the way for Jackson State was Tristan Jarrett with 17 points, two rebounds and three assists.
Game two against Ole Miss didn’t go well for Jackson State either. The Tigers scored just 12 points in the first half, and lost in a blowout 80-45. Jarrett was again the top scorer there with 13 points and eight boards, while Jayveous McKinnis doubled up on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Over on the LA Tech side, they opened the season with three straight wins over Texas-Arlington, NW State and LA-Monroe. Since then it’s been a 1-2 mark in the Bulldogs’ last three. LA Tech has a win over SE Louisiana 78-69 sandwiched between losses to LSU and Louisiana.
In the loss to the Cajuns on Saturday, Louisiana Tech’s top scorer was Kenneth Lofton with 13 points, four rebounds and two assists. Amorie Archibald added 12 points there, and both Kaleb Ledoux and Isaiah Crawford notched 11 points with six rebounds apiece.
The Bulldogs are 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS loss. LA Tech is 0-5 ATS in the last five after a straight-up loss and the over is 5-2 in the last seven games.
Meanwhile, Jackson State is 2-6 ATS in their last eight Tuesday games and 2-5 ATS in the last seven after a straight-up loss. The Tigers are 5-1 ATS in the last six after an ATS loss and the under is 4-1 in the last five overall.
PICK: I’m sticking with Louisiana Tech. Jackson State has only had one good half in four games, unless you count the garbage-time 33 points against the Rebels. The Tigers have a few good scorers at the top of their roster, but not enough depth or consistency to make an impact against most teams. LA Tech has had their flat moments as well, but generally has posted some solid offense with 76 or more points in four of six games. I don’t think the Bulldogs will have too many issues in this one.
