The Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns meet Sunday in college basketball action from Frank Erwin Center.
Oklahoma State enters this one at 6-1 overall. The Cowboys had a six-game winning streak to open the year but fell to TCU in their last game. As for Texas, they’re 6-1 this year. The Longhorns have won consecutive games against Texas State and Sam Houston State. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Oklahoma State stormed out of the gate this season with a half-dozen straight wins, but faltered in their last outing. The Cowboys took out TX-Arlington, Texas Southern, Marquette, Oakland, Oral Roberts and Wichita State to open the year, but fell 77-76 to TCU on Wednesday.
In the loss to the Frogs. Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham posted 17 points with eight rebounds and three assists to lead the team, and Rondel Walker managed 12 points with two boards. Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe was also in double-figures there with 10 points and five rebounds.
Over on the Texas side, they started the year with four straight victories, taking out UTRGV, Davidson, Indiana and North Carolina. The Longhorns fell to Villanova 68-64 in game five, but came back with wins over Texas State 74-53 and Sam Houston State 79-63 in their last pair.
In the win over the Bearkats, Texas’ top contributor was Greg Brown with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Courtney Ramey also scored 17 points, adding six assists and four rebounds. Andrew Jones chipped in 13 points, three rebounds and two assists as well.
Texas is 1-4 ATS in their last five Sunday games and 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The under is 10-4 in the Longhorns’ last 14 home games and 5-0 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games overall and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. Oklahoma State is 17-6 ATS in their last 23 Sunday games and the under is 5-2 in their last seven road games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Texas here. The Longhorns did a nice job against Sam Houston State in their last game, holding the Bearkats to 35.2 percent shooting from the field and out-rebounding the opposition 41-34. Texas has been scoring pretty well this season, with a combined 153 points in their last pair. As for Oklahoma State, they’ve had a couple of close games in their last two outings, decided by a combined four points. This should be a great matchup, but I like the Longhorns to bang out a cover late.
