The Lamar Cardinals and the Abilene Christian Wildcats meet in college basketball action from Moody Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.
The Lamar Cardinals will look to add to just their 2nd win of the season following a 74-64 win over Southeastern Louisiana last time out. Davion Buster leads Lamar in scoring with an average of 17.2PPG while Anderson Kopp is 2nd on the team in scoring with 11.8 PPG as well as 4.1 RPG and Quinlan Bennett has 10.1 PPG with 5.4 RPG this season as Lamar’s 3rd and final double-digit scorer up to this point in the season. Avery Sullivan isn’t far from being #4 with 9.8 PPG as well as a team-high 7.4 RPG and Kasen Harrison has 9.2 PPG as well as a team-high 4.2 APG this season. As a team, Lamar is averaging 60.2 PPG on 37.6% shooting from the field, 25.5% from 3-point range and 72.3% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 72.7 points on 45.3% shooting from the field and 35.4% from 3-point range this season.
The Abilene Christian Wildcats will look to add to their 8-2 record on the year after an 82-44 win over Dallas Christian last time out. Joe Pleasant leads the Wildcats in scoring with 10.4 PPG, shooting 45.9% from the field and 30% from 3-point range while Coryon Mason has 10.1 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for ACU this season. Kolton Kojl also has a team-high 4.7 RPG to go along with his 9.7 PPG this season, sitting just outside that double-digit scoring window from making a duo a trio of double-digit scorers for ACU this season. As a team, Abilene Christian is averaging 74.6 points on 45.1% shooting from the field, 32.1% from 3-point range and 61% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 57.5 points on 38.6% shooting from the field and 29.1% from 3-point range this season.
Lamar is 8-21 ATS in their last 29 games against a team with a winning record and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games following a win while the under is 8-3 in their last 11 games overall. Abilene Christian is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a win while the under is 8-2 in their last 10 home games.
This is a tough one to call as as bad as Lamar has been, they’re still better competition than what Abilene Christian has faced for the most part as of late. With that said, ACU’s been beating up on those teams and I don’t expect much different from the Wildcats here as I think they take it to the Cardinals in this one as well. I’ll lay the points with Abilene Christian in this one.
