Southeast Missouri State vs Murray State College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/1/21

The Murray State Racers and the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks meet Monday in college basketball action from Show Me Center. 

Murray State enters this one at 7-8 overall. The Racers are 2-1 in their last three and coming off a loss to Belmont. As for Southeast Missouri State, they’re 6-10 this year. Murray State began their year at 4-2 before a losing streak versus Austin Peay, Belmont, Morehead State and Eastern Illinois. Since then it’s been a 3-2 stretch with wins over UT-Martin, Tennessee Tech and Tennessee State alongside losses to Jacksonville State and Belmont. 

In the 72-71 loss to Belmont on Saturday, Murray State’s KJ Williams doubled up on 18 points with 16 rebounds and three assists. Tevin Brown added 13 points with seven rebounds and six assists, and Demond Robinson had 11 points with five rebounds and one assist. 

Over on the Southeast Missouri State side, their year began at 3-7 following a loss to Belmont on January 7. Since then it’s been a 3-3 stretch with losses to Morehead State and UT-Martin alongside wins over Tennessee State, SIU Edwardsville and Eastern Illinois. 

In Saturday’s 75-44 win over the Panthers, Southeast Missouri State’s Nana Akenten put up 13 points with five rebounds and two assists. Both Manny Paterson and Chris Harris notched 11 points apiece, combining for eight rebounds and five assists as well. 

The Redhawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five Monday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The under is 5-1 in SEMO’s last six overall and the over is 6-1 in their last seven Monday games. 

Meanwhile, the Racers are 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six road games. The under is 8-2-2 in the Racers’ last 12 road games and 19-5-2 in their last 26 overall. 

PICK: I’m taking the Racers here. Southeast Missouri State has been in a scoring slump lately, notching 66 or fewer in six straight games prior to Saturday. Murray State has hit 71 or more in each of their last five, and had a halftime lead on a great Belmont team in their last game. I like the Racers to come out firing here and push through a convincing cover.
