The George Mason Patriots and the Saint Joseph’s Hawks meet Saturday in college basketball action from Hagan Arena.

George Mason enters this one at 7-6 so far. The Patriots are 2-1 in their last three games and coming off a victory over Saint Joseph’s on Wednesday. As for the Hawks, they’re 1-11 this season. Saint Joseph’s has lost three straight to Davidson, La Salle and George Mason. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

George Mason started out their year at 4-1 with a lone loss to Belmont. The Patriots then lost to Norfolk State before beating UMass, then lost three straight to Dayton, VCU and Richmond. Since then it’s been a win over La Salle, a loss to Rhode Island and a win over Saint Joseph’s.

In Wednesday’s 87-85 2OT win over the Hawks, George Mason’s Javon Greene posted 25 points with nine rebounds and two assists. Jordan Miller added 17 points with six boards, and Josh Oduro doubled up on 14 points with 13 rebounds and one assist in 28 minutes of work.

Over on the Saint Joseph’s side, they began their year on a losing skid to Auburn, Kansas, Drexel, Villanova, Tennessee, VCU, Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure before finally beating Albany. Since then it’s been three more losses to Davidson, La Salle and George Mason, however.

In the Wednesday loss to the Patriots, Saint Joseph’s top scorer was Taylor Funk with 19 points, nine rebounds and one assist. Jadarian Tracey had 18 points with six boards and Jordan Hall notched 11 assists, five rebounds and two points in 34 minutes of work.

The Hawks are 1-4-1 ATS in the last six home games and 16-37-2 ATS in their last 55 after an ATS win. The over is 13-3 in Saint Joseph’s last 16 overall and 5-2 in their last seven home games.

Meanwhile, the Patriots are 0-5 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss. George Mason is 1-5 ATS in their last six after a straight-up win and the over is 18-6 in their last 24 road games.

PICK: I’m going to take the Hawks here. Sure, Saint Joseph’s record this season is pretty abysmal, but they’ve been pretty close in a few games—including Wednesday’s 87-85 affair. The Hawks shot a nice 44.9 percent from the field in that one, but were out-rebounded 51-40. If Saint Joseph’s can take care of the ball a little better while maintaining that scoring pace, I can see the Hawks banging out a cover in this one. Should be another good one.
