Old Dominion vs Charlotte College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/13/21

The Charlotte 49ers and the Old Dominion Monarchs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Ted Constant Convocation Center. 

Charlotte enters this game at 9-10 so far. The 49ers have lost three straight games to Middle Tennessee and Old Dominion. As for the Monarchs, they’re 10-5 this year. Charlotte had a 5-6 record through their first 11 games, then took four of their next five outings over UAB, Florida Atlantic and Florida International. Since then it’s been three straight losses for the 49ers. Those have come courtesy of Middle Tennessee (twice) and ODU. 

In the 78-76 overtime loss to Old Dominion on Wednesday, Charlotte’s Jahmir Young led the team on 26 points with four rebounds and three assists. Jhery Matos added 14 points with two rebounds and two assists, and Brice Williams had 13 points with two rebounds. 

Over on the Old Dominion side, they’ve been pretty consistent this year and haven’t lost consecutive games yet. The Monarchs re 3-1 over their last four games. The loss was to Marshall, and the three wins came versus Rice, Marshall and Charlotte. 

In the OT win over Charlotte on Wednesday, Old Dominion’s Kalu Ezikpe led the way on 22 points and four rebounds. Malik Curry posted 21 points with five assists and four rebounds, and Austin Trice had 12 points with four boards.  

The Monarchs are 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine Saturday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games. Old Dominion is 6-13-1 ATS in their last 20 overall and the under is 4-1 in their last five Saturday games. 

Meanwhile, the 49ers are 21-47 ATS in their last 68 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall. Charlotte is 22-8-2 ATS in the last 32 after an ATS loss and the over is 17-7 in their last 24 road games. 

PICK: I like Charlotte in this one. The Monarchs shot a scorching 61.7 percent (29-of-47) from the field in the Wednesday win, storming back from a four-point halftime deficit. Charlotte had some good things going for them however, like 47.4 percent from 3-point range and a 27-24 rebound advantage. This should be another great game, and I like the Niners to get a revenge cover.
