Southern Utah vs Northern Arizona College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/24/21

The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks and the Southern Utah Thunderbirds meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Centrum Arena Utah. 

Northern Arizona enters this one at 5-13 so far. The Lumberjacks are coming off a pair of losses to Weber State. As for Southern Utah, they’re 15-3 this year. Northern Arizona has had a shaky season at best, and they’ve only managed consecutive victories once this year. The Lumberjacks are 1-4 over their last five games with two losses to Montana State, a win over Northern Colorado and two losses to Weber State. 

In the 74-52 loss to Weber State on Saturday, Northern Arizona’s Luke Avdalovic led the way on 16 points with two rebounds and two assists. Nik Mains chipped in five points and eight boards, and Keith Haymon had six points with three rebounds. 

Over on the Southern Utah side, they’ve had a pretty solid season overall. Since a 1-2 run in January the Thunderbirds have won five straight. Southern Utah has beaten Weber State, Benedictine AZ, San Diego Christian and Sacramento State in that time. 

In the 77-57 win over Sac State, Southern Utah’s John Knight led the team on 16 points with four rebounds and two assists. Tevian Jones had 15 points with eight rebounds and four assists, and Maizen Fausett had 14 points with nine boards. 

The Thunderbirds are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall and 4-0 ATS in their last four home games. Southern Utah is 4-1 ATS in their last five Wednesday games and the over is 9-2 in their last 11 Wednesday games. 

Meanwhile, the Lumberjacks are 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall. Northern AZ is 0-4 ATS in their last four Wednesday games and the under is 12-2 in their last 14 Wednesday games. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Southern Utah. The Thunderbirds have been on a nice run over this 5-0 stretch, posting 77 or more points in each outing. The Lumberjacks haven’t scored all that well over their last couple, with a combined 111 points in the two Weber State games. If Southern Utah plays to their capabilities the cover should be there for them in this one.
