Iowa State vs TCU College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/27/21

The TCU Horned Frogs and the Iowa State Cyclones meet Saturday in college basketball action from Hilton Coliseum. 

TCU enters this one at 11-10 so far. The Frogs have lost three straight games, most recently to West Virginia. As for Iowa State, they’re 2-17 this year. TCU had a pretty solid start to the season, going 9-2 over their first 11 games with losses to Oklahoma and Providence. Since then the Frogs have gone just 2-8, however. They’ve lost to Texas, Kansas State and West Virginia in their last three. 

In the 74-66 loss to West Virginia on Tuesday, TCU’s RJ Nembhard put up 17 points with nine assists and four rebounds. Kevin Samuel doubled up for the Frogs in that one, notching 11 points, 10 rebounds and one assist in 29 minutes. 

Over on the Cyclones’ side, they started the year at 2-4 with wins over AR-Pine Bluff and Jackson State. Since then it’s been a string of 13 losses for Iowa State, however. They’ve fallen to Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Baylor in the last three. 

In the 77-72 loss to Baylor, Iowa State’s Tyler Harris put up 22 points with one rebound and one assist. Rasir Bolton added 21 points with eight rebounds and six assists, and Jalen Coleman-Lands put up 13 points with four boards and two assists. 

Iowa State is 11-23 ATS in their last 34 games as an underdog and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games. The Cyclones are 0-4 ATS in their last four as a home favorite and the over is 14-6 in their last 20 Saturday games. 

Meanwhile, the Frogs are 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss and 1-7 ATS in their last eight as a favorite. TCU is 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Iowa State here. The Cyclones’ recent record is all kinds of ugly, but they gave a great Baylor team a run for their money on Tuesday. The Cyclones led 37-32 at the half and nearly pulled off an epic upset. TCU has been scoring pretty well lately, but they may be surprised if Iowa State comes in on point. Should be a pretty great game.
