The Pepperdine Waves and the San Diego Toreros meet Saturday in college basketball action from Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Pepperdine enters this game at 10-11 so far. The Waves have lost three straight, most recently to LMU. As for San Diego, they’re 3-9 this year. The Toreros have lost consecutive games to Gonzaga and Pacific. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Pepperdine skidded into the year on a 4-6 skid, but then had a pretty solid run after that. The Waves would go 6-2 in their next eight games, but then hit a three-game losing streak. Those defeats came to Santa Clara, Saint Mary’s and LMU.

In the 81-74 loss to LMU on Thursday, Pepperdine’s Colbey Ross put up 25 points with eight assists and two rebounds. Kessler Edwards added 14 points with six boards, and Victor Ohia Obioha chipped in 11 points with eight rebounds.

Over on the San Diego side, they’ve had a rash of postponements and cancellations this year, and haven’t been able to stay on the floor much. Over the last three, the Toreros are 1-2 with a win over Santa Clara alongside losses to Gonzaga and Pacific.

In the 77-67 loss to Pacific on Tuesday, San Diego’s Joey Calcaterra put up 12 points with four rebounds and two assists. Yauhen Massalski doubled up on 11 points and 11 boards, and Josh Parrish had 11 points with two assists and one rebound.

San Diego is 1-4 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up loss. The Toreros are 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and the over is 11-5 in their last 16 overall.

Meanwhile, the Waves are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 overall and 6-1-2 ATS in their last nine road games. The under is 5-2 in Pepperdine’s last seven road games and 9-3-1 in their last 13 after a straight-up loss.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Pepperdine. The Waves have put up some pretty good offensive totals lately, with 74 or more points in four of their last six games. San Diego has had a few solid points totals themselves, but it’s hard for a team to gather momentum amid so many play stoppages this season. In any case, I think the Waves can eke out a cover here.
