The New Orleans Privateers and the Incarnate Word Cardinals meet Monday in college basketball action from McDermott Center.

New Orleans enters this one at 6-14 so far. The Privateers are 2-1 in their last three and coming off a loss to Nicholls. As for Incarnate Word, they’re 8-10 this year. The Cardinals have lost their last two games to Northwestern State and Lamar. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

New Orleans stumbled to a 1-9 start over their first 10 games this year, but then hit a three-game win streak. After going 0-4 through their next quartet, the Privateers beat Central Arkansas and Texas A&M-CC before falling to Nicholls on Saturday.

In the 105-101 OT loss to Nicholls, New Orleans’ Derek St. Hilaire led the team with 32 points, five rebounds and three assists. Troy Green added 21 points with six boards, and Damion Rosser chipped in 17 points with nine rebounds.

Over on the Incarnate Word side, they’ve been hovering around the .500 mark for most of the season but haven’t quite been able to get over the hump. In the last six games the Cardinals are 2-4 with losses to Houston Baptist, Abilene Christian, Northwestern State and Lamar.

In the 67-45 loss to Lamar, Incarnate Word’s Keaston Willis was the only player in double-figures with 15 points and one rebound. Des Balentine chipped in with nine points, five assists and two rebounds as well.

Incarnate Word is 3-1-1 ATS in their last five overall and 3-0-1 ATS in the last four as an underdog. The Cardinals are 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss and the under is 4-0 in their last four overall.

Meanwhile, the Privateers are 4-0 ATS in their last four overall and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Monday games. New Orleans is 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 road games and the over is 35-14-2 in their last 51 overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with New Orleans. The Cardinals haven’t been scoring well lately; they’ve got 67 or fewer points in each of the last four games despite going 2-2 in that time. The last time these teams met up, the Privateers secured an 86-64 win. This one might not be such a blowout but I still like New Orleans better on the cover.
