Rutgers vs Indiana College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/24/21

The Indiana Hoosiers and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights meet Wednesday in college basketball action from the RAC. 

Indiana enters this one at 12-10 so far. The Hoosiers are 1-2 in their last three and coming off a loss to Michigan State. As for Rutgers, they’re 12-9 this year. Indiana has had a choppy run this season. The Hoosiers have hung around .500 most of the year, and haven’t won more than two consecutive games yet. In the last three outings, Indiana has a win over Minnesota between losses to Ohio State and Michigan State. 

In the 78-71 loss to the Spartans on Saturday, Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis put up 34 points with nine rebounds and two assists, while Race Thompson had 15 points with six assists. Armaan Franklin added 13 points with five rebounds and three assists as well. 

Over on the Rutgers’ side, they’ve shown flashes this year but also have runs of futility in this tough conference. Over their last four games the Knights are just 1-3, beating Northwestern while otherwise falling to Iowa, Michigan and Maryland. 

In the 68-59 loss to Maryland on Sunday, Rutgers’ Jacob Young led the way with 19 points, one rebound and one assist in 26 minutes of work. Geo Baker was also in double-figures with 12 points, eight rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes. 

The Knights are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up loss. The under is 4-0 in Rutgers’ last four overall and 4-1 in their last five after an ATS loss. 

Meanwhile, the Hoosiers are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 Wednesday games and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 road games. Indiana is 4-1 ATS in their last four after a straight-up loss and the over is 4-0 in their last four Wednesday games. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Indiana here. The last time these teams met up, it was a 74-70 Rutgers victory. The Knights shot an excellent 50.9 percent from the field while also holding a slim edge in rebounds (32-29) and assists 15-14. Indiana also had 12 turnovers to Rutgers’ nine. With a little better ball control and some tighter defense I can see the Hoosiers banging out a cover in this one. Should be a good game.
