San Diego State vs Wyoming College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 1/28/21

The Wyoming Cowboys and the San Diego State Aztecs meet Thursday in college basketball action from Viejas Arena. 

Wyoming enters this one at 10-5 so far. The Cowboys have won three straight and are coming off a win over Nevada. As for San Diego State, they’re 11-4 this season. Wyoming began their year at 1-1, then rattled off a nice six-game win streak before losing four straight to Fresno State, Boise State and Air Force. Since then it’s been three straight wins for the Cowboys; one against Air Force and the other pair versus Nevada last weekend. 

In Sunday’s 93-88 win over the Wolf Pack, Wyoming’s Marcus Williams put up 28 points with three assists and one rebound, while Graham Ike had 18 points with six rebounds and one assist. Both Kwane Marble and Xavier DuSell chipped in 13 points apiece as well. 

Over on the Aztecs side, they kicked off their year with five straight wins before losing to BYU and Colorado State in a three-game stretch. San Diego State then won three more before losing consecutive outings to Utah State and bouncing back with a pair of victories over Air Force. 

In Sunday’s 91-59 win over the Falcons, San Diego State’s Jordan Schakel put up 24 points with three assists and two rebounds. The only other player in double-figures there was Matt Mitchell with 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists in 14 minutes on the floor. 

The Aztecs are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win. San Diego State is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Thursday games and the under is 22-7 in their last 29 Thursday games. 

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 Thursday games and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 after an ATS win. Wyoming is 15-4 ATS in their last 19 road games and the over is 10-4 in their last 14 after an ATS win. 

PICK: I’m sticking with the Aztecs. San Diego State has struggled in certain matchups this year (like the Utah State games), but for the most part the team has scored well and can compete with most teams. The Aztecs notched 189 combined points in the two Air Force games and should put up a good total here. Wyoming is a strong team in their own right so this should be a pretty fun game to watch, but I still think SDSU pulls out a cover.
