March Madness Picks: Creighton vs Ohio 3/22/21 College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions

The Creighton Bluejays face the Ohio Bobcats in an NCAA tournament second round matchup in March Madness college basketball action on Monday.

The Ohio Bobcats booked their spot in the second round with a 62-58 upset win over Virginia last time out. Ben Vander Plas led the Bobcats in scoring with 17 points on 7 of 15 shooting with 3 threes, 5 rebounds and 4 assists while Ben Roderick had 15 points with 3 threes as well. Jason Preston added 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting with team-highs of 13 rebounds and 8 assists as well for the stat-stuffing double-double that proved instrumental in Ohio’s win.

The Creighton Bluejays took their seat in the second round after a narrow 63-62 win over UC-Santa Barbara last time out. Marcus Zegarowski led the Bluejays in scoring with 17 points on 8 of 11 shooting with3  threes and a team-high 8 assists while Christian Bishop had 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting with a team-high 11 rebounds and a pair of blocks for the double-double. Denzel Mahoney added 13 points on 5 of 15 shooting with 3 threes to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Creighton in the win while Mitch Ballock had 8 points with 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

Ohio is 22-7 ATS in their last 29 games overall and 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 neutral site games. Creighton is 2-12-2 ATS in their last 16 NCAA tournament games and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a win while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 neutral site games as a favorite.

I get why Creighton would be favored here, but in reality, Creighton should’ve lost that game to UCSB, as the Gauchos just couldn’t go up strong on the last possession and I think there should’ve been a foul called but another story for another day. The bottom line is Creighton is on borrowed time. The Bobcats are legit and showed they can battle against the best as they took out the defending champions. I’ll lean towards Ohio and the points here.
