The Citadel Bulldogs and Pittsburgh Panthers meet Tuesday in college basketball action at the Petersen Events Center. The Citadel Bulldogs won 13 games last year and enter the seventh season under coach Duggar Baucom. The Pittsburgh Panthers won 10 games last season and enter the fourth year under coach Jeff Capel.

The Citadel Bulldogs lost two of their three double-digit scorers from last season, but they return their best player and one of the best players in the Southern Conference overall. With four seniors on this roster, The Citadel Bulldogs have a chance to build on what they did a year ago. Hayden Brown returns after averaging 18.8 points and 10.5 rebounds, while Tyler Moffe averaged 9.7 points and 4.1 assists. Stephen Clark dished 2.1 assists last season, and Rudy Fitzgibbons III averaged 1.3 rebounds.

The Pittsburgh Panthers lost their top-three scorers from last season, including a first-team All-ACC selection in Justin Champagnie. Pittsburgh will have a ton of production to replace and could struggle early because of it. The good news is Pittsburgh landed a quality 4-star recruit in Nate Santos. Ithiel Horton returns after averaging 8.9 points and 2.3 rebounds, while Nike Sibande averaged 6.9 points and 1.5 assists. Femi Odukale dished 2.2 assists last season, and John Hugley averaged 4.3 rebounds.

The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games as an underdog and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Panthers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games as a home favorite. The under is 13-3 in Bulldogs last 16 overall. The over is 4-1 in Panthers last 5 home games.

The Citadel Bulldogs aren’t exactly world beaters, but they’re an experienced team that won’t be intimated by the bright lights. The Pittsburgh Panthers lost a ton of production from a year ago and make an early case as one of the worst teams from a major conference. Pittsburgh is likely going to struggle all season. Because of that, I’ll take a shot with the Bulldogs and the points.
