The Wright State Raiders and the Marshall Thundering Herd meet Friday in college basketball action from Cam Henderson Center. Wright State managed a blowout win over Lake Erie in their opener this week. As for Marshall, this will be their first game of the season after a 15-7 overall run last year. Wright State managed to go 18-6 overall last year and 16-4 in Horizon League play. The Raiders shared a regular-season championship with Cleveland State. Wright State was bounced early from the conference tourney, losing to Milwaukee 94-92 in OT.

In their season opener, the Raiders didn’t have too many issues with Lake Erie. Wright State posted 47 points in the first half and cruised to an 86-53 blowout win. Tanner Holden was the lead score with 19 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Over on the Marshall side, they logged a 15-7 overall record last year and went 9-5 in Conference USA games. The Herd landed in third place in the East Division with that effort, behind Western Kentucky and Old Dominion.

Marshall went into the postseason on a nice stretch, winning six of their final seven outings. The Herd ran into trouble in the Conference USA Tournament versus Rice however, ultimately falling 72-68 in the Second Round.

Wright State is 0-5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight Friday games. The Raiders are 0-5-1 ATS in their last six overall.

Meanwhile, the Herd are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 road games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven Friday games. Marshall is 0-5 ATS in their last five overall.

PICK: I’m going to try Wright State, but probably staying away. The Raiders ran all over Lake Erie in their opener and had four players in double-digit points. There wasn’t much question who had the advantage in that matchup, but give Wright State credit for taking care of business.

As for Marshall, they lost a couple of starters to the transfer portal in the offseason, but should mostly be reloaded and ready for another run. If the Herd can find some rhythm and consistency this year they should do well. I’m going to stay away until I see what they can do on the court, however.
