The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles and the UNC Asheville Bulldogs meet Thursday in college basketball action from McKenzie Arena. Tennessee Tech is 1-2 so far and fresh off a loss to Chattanooga. As for UNC Asheville, they’re also 1-2. The Bulldogs lost to Chattanooga in their most recent game as well. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Tennessee Tech got a tough draw against Memphis in their opener. The Eagles allowed 59.3 percent shooting to the Tigers in an 89-65 blowout loss. In game two, Tennessee Tech got their first win of the year, cruising to a 109-68 victory over Oakwood.

In their third matchup, the Golden Eagles took on Chattanooga. Tennessee Tech kept up well initially with a 32-31 halftime edge, but faltered down the stretch in a 69-62 loss. Tops in scoring was Jr. Clay with 16 points and four assists.

Over on the UNC Asheville side, their first game didn’t go well either. The Bulldogs played UAB and eventually got blown out 102-77. Game two against Brevard College went much better. UNC Asheville scored 56 points in the second half on the way to a 101-44 blowout win.

The Bulldogs had trouble immediately against Chattanooga in their last game. UNC Asheville fell behind 35-18 at halftime, and couldn’t get any closer than that in a 75-45 defeat. Trent Stephney was the only double-digit scorer on 13 points with four rebounds.

The Bulldogs are 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss and the over is 5-1 in their last six at home. UNC Asheville is 4-0 ATS in their last four after a straight-up loss.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 Thursday games and 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 road games. Tennessee Tech is 4-0 ATS in their last four overall and the over is 7-2 in their last nine overall.

PICK: I’m going to try Tennessee Tech but most likely not going near this game. Both teams are coming off a game versus a common opponent, and neither did all that well. The Eagles at least had a halftime lead, shooting 40.3 percent for the game and holding a 41-32 rebounding edge.

As for UNC Asheville, they shot just 30.2 percent in their blowout loss to Chattanooga, losing the rebounding battle 49-24. The Bulldogs should match up better here, but I still think it’s Tennessee Tech’s cover.
