The Ohio Bobcats and the Kentucky Wildcats meet Friday in college basketball action from Rupp Arena. Ohio is rolling along at 3-0 so far this year. The Bobcats beat Robert Morris in their last outing. As for Kentucky, they’re 2-1 this season and coming off a win over Mount St. Mary’s. Ohio came out of the gate strong this year against Belmont, scoring 48 second-half points on the way to a 92-80 opener win. In game two, Ohio kept it going against Cleveland State, pulling out a 67-56 win to move to 2-0.

In their most recent outing against Robert Morris, the Bobcats scored well again. Ohio put up 39 points in the first half and 46 more in the second en route to an 85-71 win. Leading scorer Jason Carter put up 18 points with 11 rebounds in that one.

Over on the Kentucky side, they got an unenviable opening matchup this year against Duke. The Wildcats fought valiantly but ultimately fell 79-71. Game two turned into Kentucky’s first win: a 100-60 blowout victory versus Robert Morris.

In game three the Wildcats kept it going against Mount St. Mary’s. Kentucky held the Mountaineers to just 27 first-half points on the way to a nice 80-55 win. Oscar Tshiebwe led the team with his 24 points and 16 rebounds.

Kentucky is 3-10 ATS in their last 13 home games and 7-18-2 ATS in their last 27 overall. The Wildcats are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats are 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games and 25-8 ATS in their last 33 overall. Ohio is 5-1 ATS in the last six Friday games.

PICK: I’m going to try Ohio in this one. The Bobcats put up a relatively tepid 67 points versus Cleveland State in their second game, but otherwise they’ve been scoring very well with 177 combined points across the other pair. Ohio will need to keep putting up the points here, as Kentucky is a great offensive team. The Wildcats were excellent on the boards in their last game as well, beating out the Mountaineers with a 41-27 rebounding advantage. This should be a pretty fun matchup, and I think Ohio can get in there.
