Southern Illinois vs Creighton 11/22/2021 College Basketball Picks, Best Bets and Odds

The Creighton Bluejays and the Southern Illinois Salukis meet Monday in college basketball action form Sports and Fitness Center. Creighton is currently 4-1 on the year. The Bluejays lost to Colorado State on Sunday. As for Southern Illinois, they’re 2-2 this season and lost to Northeastern in their last outing. Creighton started out the season with a 90-77 win over AR-pine Bluff, then in game two it was another victory over Kennesaw State 51-44. The Bluejays kept it going with wins over Nebraska 77-69 and Brown 78-57 in their next pair. 

Creighton took on Colorado State in the Sunday matchup, falling behind 42-36 at halftime. The Bluejays fell behind further from there in a 95-81 loss. Arthur Kaluma led the team with 16 points, five rebounds and two assists. 

Over on the Southern Illinois side, they opened up the season against Little Rock and ended up falling 69-66. The Salukis were able to bounce back and win their next two games over Austin Peay 73-55 and Colorado 67-63. 

In Sunday’s matchup against Northeastern, Southern Illinois went into the break with a 20-20 tie but couldn’t keep the pace in the second half in a 59-47 loss. Lance Jones led the team with 21 points and three rebounds. 

PICK: I’m going to try Creighton in this one. The Bluejays fell victim to a hot-shooting Colorado State team (53 percent from the field and 20 made 3-pointers) but performed well themselves. Creighton shot 55 percent overall, pulled down 37 rebounds and collected 18 assists. The 13 turnovers didn’t help, but they weren’t able to keep up with the Rams regardless. 

As for Southern Illinois, they shot just 29.6 percent against Northeastern and were out-rebounded 29-26. It wasn’t a pretty game after halftime and I don’t think the Salukis will come back well enough to cover here.
