The Lehigh Mountain Hawks and the Virginia Cavaliers meet Friday in college basketball action from John Paul Jones Arena. Lehigh enters this one at 1-4 overall. The Mountain Hawks are coming off a win over Columbia. As for Virginia, they’re 4-2 so far and fresh off a win over Providence. Lehigh had some trouble in their first four games this season. The Mountain Hawks lost in succession to Rutgers 73-70, NJIT 73-56, Monmouth 85-75 and Merrimack 55-45 to start out at 0-4.

In game five versus Columbia, Lehigh finally got into the W column. The Mountain Hawks posted a 41-31 advantage at halftime and held on for a 79-72 result. Evan Taylor put up 18 points with six rebounds and a steal to lead the way.

Over on the Virginia side, they opened the year with a 66-58 loss to Navy, then evened it up with a 78-52 win over Radford. The Cavaliers lost to Houston in game three, then took out Coppin State and Georgia from there.

On Tuesday against Providence, the Cavaliers held the Friars to just 15 first-half points during an eventual 58-40 victory. Jayden Gardner topped the team with a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards.

The Cavs are 1-5 ATS in their last six Friday games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven at home. Virginia is 4-9 ATS in their last 13 overall as well.

Meanwhile, the Mountain Hawks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Friday games and 7-20 ATS in their last 27 after an ATS loss. The under is 6-0 in Lehigh’s last six Friday games.

PICK: I’m probably going to stick with Virginia in this one. The Cavaliers were excellent defensively against an overmatched Providence team in their last outing, holding the Friars to just 23.5 percent shooting from the floor and gaining a 38-27 rebounding edge. Lehigh is coming off a pretty good offensive game themselves (48.3 percent shooting), but if Virginia can keep up that level of defense I think they’ll be fine on a cover.

Andrew's Free Pick: Virginia Cavaliers -19
