The CSU Northridge Matadors will travel to Jenny Craig Pavilion to take on the San Diego Toreros this Sunday night in College Basketball action.

The CSU Northridge Matadors won their 2nd straight game and improved to 2-3 on the season after defeating the St. Katherine Firebirds, 71-62, this past Wednesday. CSU Northridge led by a 33-29 margin at halftime and was able to pull away late after taking a 65-60 margin with 1:55 left in regulation. CSU Northridge shot 49.1% from the field & 35.3% from beyond the arc while holding St. Katherine to 38.3% shooting from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. CSU Northridge outrebounded St. Katherine by a 37-32 margin and forced 14 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Matadors was Christian Gray who had 13 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block, & 1 steal.

On the season, CSU Northridge is averaging 63.0 ppg on 41.4% shooting from the field. The Matadors are averaging 6.2 three-pointers per game on 37.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, CSU Northridge has been led by Elijah Hardy (9.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.2 spg), Atin Wright (9.0 ppg, 1.0 rpg, 1.2 apg), Onyi Eyisi (8.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg), & Christian Gray (7.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.2 apg).

Defensively, CSU Northridge is allowing their opponents to an average of 71.8 ppg on 44.6% shooting from the field. The Matadors have a rebound margin of -0.6 and a turnover margin of -1.2.

The San Diego Toreros snapped their 2-game losing streak and improved to 4-3 on the season after defeating the UIC Flames, 64-52, this past Friday. San Diego was outstanding defensively against UIC and was able to pull away in the 2nd half after taking a 51-37 lead with 10:56 left in the 2nd half. San Diego shot 47.1% from the field & 36.4% from beyond the arc while holding UIC to just 37.7% from the field & 13.6% from beyond the arc. San Diego outrebounded UIC by a 39-32 margin and won the turnover battle by a 16-15 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Toreros was Joey Calcaterra who had 13 points, 8 rebounds, & 2 steals.

On the season, San Diego is averaging 72.6 ppg on 46.7% shooting from the field. The Toreros are averaging 7.0 three-pointers per game on 46.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, San Diego has been led by Jase Townsend (14.4 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.7 apg), Joey Calcaterra (11.7 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 1.1 spg), Marcellus Earlington (11.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.0 apg), & Terrell Brown (8.3 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 1.1 apg, 3.6 bpg).

Defensively, San Diego is holding their opponents to an average of 60.0 ppg on 39.5% shooting from the field. The Toreros have a rebound margin of 4.0 and a turnover margin of 0.7.

The Matadors are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 road games vs. a team with a winning home record, however, are just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 road games following three or more consecutive home games. The Toreros are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 home games.

This is a large spread for San Diego to cover, however, CSU Northridge has struggled in both road games this season as they by a combined 56 points at USC & Notre Dame. San Diego has just a 4-3 record, however, the Toreros had an impressive 75-68 win at Nevada earlier this season while their three losses have come by just a combined 7 points. CSU Northridge has struggled scoring the basketball this season, ranking just t-302nd in scoring offense & 270th in FG% and as the Matadors are going to have trouble putting up points on the road against the Toreros, I think the San Diego offense does enough to cover this double-digit home spread. Good Luck!
